Lucy Montague - Nursing Manager
Lucy Montague BSc(Hons) GradDipVN RVN Nursing Manager

Lucy graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008. She then worked for 11 years at a large referral hospital in Surrey where, after 6 years of clinical nursing, she led a large team of veterinary nurses for 5 years. During her time there she gained the Graduate Diploma in Professional and Clinical Veterinary Nursing and the level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

In December 2019 Lucy relocated to the South West and joined us at Vale Vets and Referrals as nursing manager. Her main areas of interest are anaesthesia and emergency and critical care, as well as the progression and development of registered veterinary nurses. Lucy has also lectured to veterinary nurses at conferences in both clinical veterinary nursing and management subjects. Her experience ranges from nursing critical and high dependency patients in a clinical setting to developing CPD courses for veterinary nurses that they can attend to further their careers.

Lucy spends most of her time in an administrational role, managing the nursing rota and supporting the team through 1-2-1 meetings looking at areas that the nurses and hospital assistants can develop in their roles. Occasionally though, she can be found leading the team on the clinical floor and helping to support them on a more practical level. Lucy finds great pleasure in helping and seeing her team develop and flourish through their career and the coaching aspect this brings to her role.

Lucy lives locally with her husband, young son and two Labradors. In her spare time, she enjoys crafty activities such as knitting and embroidery along with exploring new places to walk and eat with her family.
