Sophie Sparks - Veterinary Nurse
Sophie Sparks RVN/EVN Veterinary Nurse

Sophie started as a student veterinary nurse in 1999, qualifying from Hartpury College in 2004. She then worked in small animal, mixed and equine practice before returning to Hartpury College to complete her Equine Veterinary Nursing qualification in 2007.

In 2008, Sophie emigrated to New Zealand, working as a head nurse of a busy small animal clinic before returning home and joined Vale Vets and Referrals in December 2013.

Sophie has a special interest in ophthalmology nursing, she enjoys all surgical procedures, especially cataract surgery. This surgery provides instant improvement to an animal's sight and therefore it is particularly rewarding when she discharges patients and sees the difference it has made to their lives when they can see their owners again.

One of her favourite parts of nursing is working alongside the team at Vale and never knowing what each day will bring!

Sophie describes herself as a busy mum to her daughter Enola, Mog, a Border Terrier (from New Zealand), four very tame chickens and Windsor, a sprightly 25-year-old horse who she enjoys competing with. When Sophie does find some spare time, she can be found at parkrun events and will attempt anything up to marathon distance, she also loves open water swimming.
