COULD YOUR PET BE A LIFESAVER?- BLOOD DONORS NEEDED!

We have a blood donor register for cats and dogs at our Portishead Veterinary Hospital. Allowing your pet to join this register could potentially help save a life of someone else's pet. Your cat or dog could be an ideal blood donor if they are:

  • healthy and fully vaccinated, with no known illness
  • friendly and calm when handled
  • aged between 1 and 8 years
  • never travelled abroad
  • is a cat weighing over 4kg, or a dog weighing over 25kg

In our Blood Donor Clinic, we will collect a tiny sample of blood from your pet to determine the blood-type & be added to our donor list. Actual donation at the time of registry is not required. If a patient matching your pet's blood type is in need of a transfusion, you may be contacted and if available attend the hospital with your pet for donation.

If you think your pet could be a donor, or for more information please telephone Vale Vets on 01275 847 400 or ask reception for details.
