Dental Health Month - Brushing is better!
At Vale Vets we actively encourage dental brushing to improve dental hygiene in our pets. Just like in people, the combination of food & saliva will produce plaque which can build up on teeth. If left it will harden & turn into tartar & encourage bacteria to multiply & cause dental decay.
Once tartar is formed it can only be removed with a specialist ultrasonic dental scaler under general anaesthetic. However, we believe that prevention is best & we recommend regular brushing with enzymatic toothpaste to prevent plaque building up in the first place.
We suggest introducing toothpaste to your pet very gently (just on your finger at first) & slowly introducing a special dog or cat toothbrush over time.
You can book a free consultation with one of our nurses to learn how to brush your pet’s teeth.
