Amanda graduated from Hartpury College in 2009 when she worked at a tier 3, small-animal Veterinary Hospital based in Gloucestershire. During this time, she gained her Diploma in Advanced Veterinary Nursing, specalising in anaesthesia, theatre management and surgical nursing.
In 2015, Amanda joined Vale Vets and Referrals as a referral nurse and in 2019 joined the senior nursing team as deputy nursing manager. When working clinically her main interests are anaesthesia, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and infection control. She is also passionate about mental health in the workplace and has subsequently completed her Level 3 Award in Mental Health as a workplace first aider.
One of the main reasons Amanda loves veterinary nursing is seeing how she has developed in her role over the years. This has involved challenging herself clinically with advanced cases and exploring nonclinical pathways that have led to mentoring, quality improvement and leading change. However, the best part of her day is always coming to work and adopting patients, treating them as if they were her own during their time with us.
Outside of work Amanda enjoys gaming, aerial fitness and has recently taken up learning to snowboard!
